After a brillint start, 2001 closed on a negative note for the footwear industry. The long-awaited recovery was postponed indefinitely, even though the optimism of the most authoritative people appears reassuring: ´for the company who have made investements into improving their situation´, says Mr. Brotini, president of Anci (Italian association of footwear manufacturers), the recovery will occur earlier than expected.
