AV 8: “electronics” for everyone
Diversify production, reduce costs and at the same time reach a higher quality standard. These are the many challenges that the footwear sector must, like any other, face and with no short cuts, in this era of market globalisation.
The footwear industry is very big and no longer being linked to industrialised areas alone, it is widespread. With this consideration and to aid the sector, modern production systems have been developed in recent years, thanks above all to the supply of electronics that have taken enormous steps forward.
The electronic sector, even though fundamental, is not sufficient alone to meet the various objectives that must now be imposed in the production cycle. In fact, it is absolutely essential that the machine, further to the management system, must itself be able to carry out many types of functions and be reliable.
An example that summarises what has been said until now, is the AV 8 skiving machine produced by the machine shop Fratelli Alberti (Varese, Italy).
With this electronic skiving machine, 5 types of skiving in 120 different sequences can be programmed for every piece worked. Every rounding off phase is characterised by 4 parameters (corner, thickness, width and speed), and for every one of these 99 different values can be memorised.
The parameters set can be modified during the normal working cycle. Furthermore, the piece-dragging memorised speed set can be cancelled during the working cycle and the operator can modify it as necessary using the pedal that works the electronic speed variator.
Main characteristics of the AV 8 are:
- the mechanical parts that are subject to wear can be changed with parts from the traditional skiving machines produced by Fratelli Alberti.
- Management of the work cycle and the normal maintenance operations are simplified.
- Electronic equipment is reliable and has already been tested on a machine that has been sold all over the world for years.
- A manual work cycle can be used if the electronic system registers a fault.
- Thanks to the machine arm and the elimination of the runners under the work top, hours of skiving can be carried out, even the splitting of the material being worked through to its central part.
- Knee button which raises and lowers the pressure foot and allows the operator to stop or restart skiving in any part of the piece.
- Acoustic signal that the blade is worn, manual resetting to optimal position.
